Nunes Law, Inc. is led by Frank Nunes, who opened his own Fresno practice in August 2007 and has more than 31 years of California practice. Before representing injured people he worked as a Tulare County prosecutor, for Fresno County Counsel and as in-house counsel for a national insurance company, which is the background the firm points to when dealing with insurers. Its motorcycle page says the firm understands road hazards, visibility issues and rider bias, and is prepared to take a case to court if no fair settlement is offered. Consultations are free (up to 60 minutes per the attorney’s bio), same-day and video consultations are offered, and the firm works on contingency. Frank speaks English, Spanish and German. The firm serves Fresno, Kings, Kern, Madera, Merced and Tulare counties.

Guide
How motorcycle accident claims work in California
Deadline to file an injury lawsuit
California generally gives injured people two years from the crash to file a personal injury lawsuit (Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1). Claims against a city, county or state agency usually need a written government claim within six months.
Pure comparative fault
California uses pure comparative fault. A rider found partly at fault can still recover, but the award is reduced by the rider’s share of fault.
Helmets are required
California Vehicle Code section 27803 requires riders and passengers to wear a safety helmet. Insurers sometimes argue that not wearing one made head injuries worse.
Lane splitting is legal
California Vehicle Code section 21658.1 recognizes lane splitting. Being between lanes does not by itself make a rider at fault, though insurers may still argue unsafe speed or movement.
Report the crash to the DMV
If anyone was injured or killed, or property damage was over $1,000, each driver must file an SR-1 report with the DMV within 10 days, whether or not police came.
Minimum insurance limits
California’s minimum auto liability limits are $30,000 per person, $60,000 per accident and $15,000 property damage. Serious rider injuries often exceed these, so uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage matters.

Methodology
How we chose these firms
We looked for Fresno law firms that list motorcycle accidents as a practice area, have a physical office in Fresno, and hold strong Google ratings across a meaningful number of reviews. We checked each firm’s Google Business Profile for rating, review count, phone and address, and read each firm’s published pages or directory profiles for services, fee terms and language help.
Praise and limitations come from recurring themes in Google reviews and from what each firm does or does not publish. Staff are named only as reviewers name them.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to file a motorcycle accident claim in California?
Generally two years from the date of the crash for a personal injury lawsuit. If a government agency may be responsible, for example for a road defect, a written claim is usually due within six months. An attorney can confirm the deadline for your situation.
Can I still recover if I was partly at fault?
Yes. California uses pure comparative fault, so your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault rather than barred.
Does lane splitting hurt my case?
Lane splitting is legal in California, so it does not automatically make you at fault. Insurers may still argue you were moving unsafely, which is why witness statements and scene evidence matter.
How much does a Fresno motorcycle accident lawyer cost?
All three firms on this list offer free consultations and work on contingency, meaning they are paid a percentage of what they recover. None publishes the percentage, so ask for the fee agreement in writing.
Do any of these firms help Spanish speakers?
Frank Nunes of Nunes Law speaks Spanish. Freedman Law says it provides Spanish translation help. Call Dunnion Law to ask.
What should I do right after a motorcycle crash in Fresno?
Get medical care, call police or CHP, photograph the scene and your bike, collect the other driver’s insurance and witness details, and file an SR-1 with the DMV within 10 days if anyone was hurt or damage exceeded $1,000. Avoid giving a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurer before getting advice.

Tips for a Fresno motorcycle accident claim
- Get checked even if you feel fine. Adrenaline can hide head, neck and internal injuries, and a gap in treatment is often used against riders.
- Keep your gear. A damaged helmet, jacket or boots can show how the crash happened and help prove injuries.
- Ask for the CHP or police report. Crashes on Highway 99, 41 and 180 are usually handled by CHP; city streets by Fresno PD.
- Be careful with recorded statements. The other driver’s insurer may use your words to argue rider fault or bias.
- Check your own policy. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage can pay when the at-fault driver’s limits are too low.
- Get the fee agreement in writing. Confirm the percentage and who pays case costs before you sign.
